About The Breed

While they are known as the "Cadillac" of bird dogs, they are also loyal family companions. They accommodate themselves quite well in either an apartment or house, with both adults and children. An eager to please breed that can exceed at most venues, agility, obedience, rally, conformation, personal hunter, and more. They do require daily exercise as they want to bond with their people.

Pointers in the show ring

Pointers are extremely elegant and a standout amongst the coated breeds in the sporting group. They are one of the oldest sporting breeds and helped in the initial creation of many other sporting breeds.

Pointers in the field

Whether a personal hunting dog or a hunt test and trial dog, pointers excel doing what they were originally bred to do, hunt. They have incredible noses that give them the ability to easily find birds, and their stylish "pointing" is iconic to the breed.

Pointers at home

Pointers make fantastic companions and are fantastic with children and other animals. With proper socialization and exercise a pointer can be a great dog in any home. While better suited to life with a fenced in backyard, if you put the time into exercising and training your pointer they can happily live in almost any environment.
